What is The Hartford Ski Spectacular?

Hosted by Disabled Sports USA at the Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge, Colorado, The Hartford Ski Spectacular is one of the nation’s largest winter sports festivals for people with disabilities, with more than 800 registered participants annually!

The programs offered during this week-long event include learn to ski and snowboard lessons, a week-long race camp, Ski Spec Challenge Race, free clinics (in Nordic skiing, biathlon, curling, and sled hockey), PSIA National Adaptive Academy for instructors, banquets, and other social/networking events. The title sponsor of the event is The Hartford Financial Services Group.

Can I receive electronic updates?

All changes to the event will be updated regularly on this website, so please check back frequently. Once you are registered you will be e-mailed should there be any changes affecting your registration.

Where can I find information on discounts, logistics, and the descriptions of programs offered?

Are there any special rates on airfares?

No. Unfortunately, DSUSA is unable to secure any discounts on airfare.

Volunteer
To volunteer at The Hartford Ski Spectacular please log on to registration and register as a volunteer. The volunteer section of registration includes all of the information you will need to know to volunteer. Volunteer positions in the areas you designate cannot be guaranteed.

What special guests will be in attendance?

Each year at The Hartford Ski Spectacular, we welcome a special group of individuals that have sustained a recent life changing disability. With a large number of members of our armed services returning with permanent disabilities, we have been honored to serve service men and women as part of Warfighter Sports, a program of Disabled Sports USA. For more information, click here.

Another group of special guests are the Race Camp Youth Scholarship recipients. These young racers are given the opportunity to attend a full week of the Race Camp and learn from the best disabled skiers, snowboarders and coaches in the country who help them reach their dreams.

What if I have altitude sickness or another medical emergency?

You should immediately dial 911 to respond to any urgent medical emergency, contact Ski Patrol or the Breckenridge Medical Center at 970-453-1010.

Can you help me with transportation?

With the large number of guests attending The Hartford Ski Spectacular, we advise that you make plans for your own ground transportation well in advance of the event. Click here for more information on transportation options.

If you are staying at Beaver Run Resort, free shuttles are offered to and from any area of Breckenridge.

I am visually impaired, can you provide me with a guide?

Disabled Sports USA will provide instructors for all clinics (Ski & Snowboard Lessons, Free Clinics, Race Camp); however, individuals with visual impairments must provide their own guides.

Guides must purchase their own lift tickets.

Resources for procuring guides include United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) and Foresight Ski Guides.

Are lift tickets included in the registration fee? If not how much are they?

Lift tickets are NOT INCLUDED in your registration fee. However, registered event participants are eligible for discounted rate lift tickets that can be purchased during online registration. For more information visit the Lift Tickets portion of this website.
